What Is Overlay Welding?
Overlay welding is a type of welding process that adds wear resistant materials to a component. The process melts cladding material onto the surface of another material.
Cladding is the process of applying a different or tougher material than the existing base metal or surface metal. Cladding material is meant to act as a protective cover. The weld overlay layer is added cost effectively to increase mechanical properties or increase corrosion resistant properties to the material.
Cladding processes have been known to use automated laser cladding machines or laser cladding equipment. Our cladding equipment includes both a pinch arc power source and a rapid arc power source. This allows us to provide exceptionally smooth weld deposits using a variety of welding alloys.
What Is Bore Welding?
Bore welding is the welding process used to reduce the diameter of a bore hole. This is carried out by adding metal to the inside of a worn out bore. After adding the metal, the bore can then be machined back to the correct size with a line boring process.
Using a bore welding machine, our bortech bore welder specialists can create collinear bores in machining parts. If a bore is not collinear, it can introduce vibrations, misalignment and even the malfunction of an entire system.
